OUR DOGS

 Groenendael

Our kennel is small.   We have 5 dogs on premises at the present time.  This way they are able to be members of our family and be part of the household.  They keep us busy, but we manage to keep up with them training for Schutzhund ( a dog sport involving obedience, tracking, and protection),  Agility, and showing in conformation.  Please make sure to go to the bottom of this page to view our latest additions.  Breda and York, Mega's "B" kids!

Lord running

Lord is the oldest dog in our family and my childhood dream. I had mixed breed dogs while growing up, but always wanted a Collie to show and train. Lord has been our companion through the college years, our wedding, addition of the new dogs and our daughter. When we discovered Schutzhund, Lord became our "practice dog". Unfortunately, his nerves were not strong enough to handle the pressure in protection. He earned his CD and a SchHB.  We did not feel that working Lord in Schutzhund was fair to him because he was getting stressed, so we retired him , but he continues to be in charge of "the dog kingdom" at home.

Mega show

After we retired Lord, we started looking for a dog that would enjoy doing what we loved – conformation and Schutzhund, but I was still drawn to breeds that resembled my childhood dream. This is how we ended up with this wonderful breed. Our first Belgian, Mega, made us fall in love with the breed forever. She is not just what we expected, but much more. Because of her we will always have a Belgian by our side for the rest of our lives. Mega is a good show dog, a great worker, a clown, an excellent mother, vigilant baby sitter and my constant shadow. She is my soul mate and that truly special dog that usually comes once in a lifetime. Our kennel is named after her.  Mega comes from Siegestor lines well-known for their working qualities and character as well as conformation. Among her ancestors are such great ones from the past as Q’Baron, Condor, and Windstorm v.Siegestor.

Mega is 24 in, 54 lbs., scissors bite, full dentition. She has a moderate head with a very tight and high ear set, an alert inquisitive expression, and very nice structure. Her true virtue is flawless, beautiful movement. She now has 14 points and needs one major to finish her conformation Championship.   Mega is a lot of fun to have around, she always entertains herself and the crowd. She takes on any job assigned to her with lots of fire and enthusiasm, but her true passion is Schutzhund.

Nero du Champ Boulet, an import from a working kennel in France. His sire is a French Ring III, IPO III and a Police Dog, his dam has a French Ring III. His grandam is a retired Drug detection dog who now enjoys her life as a pet. Nero is a very willing to please, sweet and loving boy.   Nero is 25 ½ in, 68 lbs.,  scissors bite and full dentition. He has thick dense coat and very dark pigmentation. All he wants to do is to be loved and give out kisses all day and night.  Nero and I discovered agility in 99 and have been hooked ever since.  Nero discovered his true passion and talent.  Nero is now in Moscow, Russia with our good friend and Belgian lover Stephan Solnick (click here to see pictures of him and his dogs!)   Together, they make an excellent team and are training to qualify and compete in the Russian National Agility Team.  The latest news on Nero is that he earned two CAC's and is also training in IPO.  Way to go Stephen and Nero!!!!

    Athos

Athos is our "A" litter kid.  Ever since he opened his eyes and started to walk, he was always a sweet, funny, and confident boy.  He was so full of himself that he quickly worked his way into our hearts and just had to stay!  He is a great ambassador for the breed - Athos hasn't met one person, animal, or object in his life yet that he wouldn't meet with a happy wag of his tail.   The world answers back the same way...

Athos is following in his mom's footsteps and is being trained for Schutzhund.  His tracking, obedience, and protection are coming along great, and he is a joy to work with.  Last year Athos got to meet the sheep, and passed his herding instinct test with flying colors.  Athos finished from the bred by class with 18 pts and 3 majors.

Athos has sired a litter with Unia D'Aljepalo FCI Agility Vice Worldchampion 1999.  Click on the Puppies button to see pictures of his kids.

Athos is 25in square, 59 lbs., good bone, short back.  He has full dentition, scissors bite, and a luxurious coat.

Porsha head

Porsha is also our "A" child.   She is 22.5 in square, 45 lbs., good bone.   She has a scissors bite and full dentition.  Porsha is proving that "good things come in small packages".  She is a little firecracker always full of herself and full of energy.  Like her mom she is always ready for action and is looking to do things.  Porsha has 12 points and one major.  She has taken best of opposite over specials.  She loved the sheep when herding instinct tested and is well along in her Schutzhund training.  We have great hopes for her in the conformation ring and Schutzhund.

 Breda

Breda is one of our "B" kids that was just to cute to give away.   Her name reflects our little trip to Holland and Belgium in search of her father.  Breda is a town we drove by every day in Holland.  Bon Voyage...  Well that says it all.  We have great plans for her.  She is very outgoing, sweet and stable and is very pretty to boot!   We planed for Breda to follow in her father's and mother's footsteps in conformation and Schutzhund.  She was raised as a Schutzhund puppy, but ever since she got her agility field for her first birthday, this became her obsession as well.  So now Olga got even busier than ever and we added agility back into our lives.  Breda has not officially started her show career.  She was shown in UKC on one weekend in Maine and received 3 "excellents" under breeder judges at 7 months! She also got a 3 pt. AKC major this spring and will continue showing in 2003.
